BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA), with support of the World Bank Group is developing Georgia's IT industry, a source in GITA told Trend.

The $23.5 million Georgia National Innovation Ecosystem (GENIE) Project, which is implemented by WB and GITA, aims to promote innovative digital entrepreneurship in Georgia through a number of initiatives and partnerships.

""IT specialists are today among the highest valued professionals worldwide," the GITA said.

Remarkably, once the training course is complete, the trainees will be able to participate in professional certification programs offered by Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Cisco etc. All the trainings and certification programs are free for the program participants.

"GITA, which is under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia is heavily involved in a range of activities throughout the country, ranging from grant programs, trainings, providing free co-working spaces in rural areas and various legislation initiatives which aim to make Georgia more attractive to innovative startups and knowledge-based businesses," the agency added.

Up to today, the project had financed around 160 startups. About 660 individuals have already obtained international ICT certification (certificate in information technology) through GITA's training programs.
