Two committees set up to look into amending Egypt's constitution and follow-up on the implementation of proposed reforms will start their work immediately, Vice President Omar Suleiman said Tuesday, DPA reported.
President Hosny Mubarak signed a decree to form the committees two days after talks between Suleiman and opposition groups, during which they agreed to end the official state of emergency, expand freedom of information online and hold re-elections for disputed seats in parliament.
A third committee to investigate Wednesday's attacks on protesters, allegedly by pro-Mubarak demonstrators, which left at least 11 dead "will be formed within days."
Mubarak has also vowed not to "prosecute or restrict the protesters nor to deny them their right to the freedom of expression," Suleiman said.
