Arab foreign ministers are to hold an emergency meeting on Syria in Cairo on Sunday, a spokesman for the Arab League said Friday, dpa reported.
Talal al-Ameen told dpa that the meeting was in response to a request from the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.On September 13, the pan-Arab organization asked the Syrian government to halt the violence and carry out political reforms.
The United Nations said Friday that more than 3,000 people had been killed in Syria since pro-democracy protests started in mid-March.
