"Nuclear weapons constitute a threat for humanity", said on Sunday Foreign Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu at the meeting "Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative" that take place in Istanbul.

The delegation leaders of 10 countries held a joint press conference after their meeting in Istanbul. Ahmet Davutoglu drew attention to the importance of annihilation of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.

Davutoglu said the same criteria should be applied to all Middle Eastern countries. Whatever the criteria are for Iran the same should be valid for Israel too.The delegation leaders were asked about the suspension of the activities of UN Observers Mission in Syria.

Foreign Minister said the UN Security Council should immediately get involved. The security of the observers could not be established in the field. United Nations should immediately take authority. We will take this issue to the agenda of G-20 Summit.

The leaders of other delegations said that they support Annan Plan however the latest situation has become worrisome.

A call was made at the press conference for the establishment of an effective political mechanism in Syria.
