Turkey’s exports of citruses to Azerbaijan for Jan.-Oct. 2019

From January through October 2019, Turkey’s exports of citrus fruits to Azerbaijan (including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic) decreased by 35 percent compared to the same period in 2018, a source at Turkey’s Union of Exporters of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables told Trend.

The source noted that from January through October 2019, 18,476 tons of citrus fruits were exported from Turkey to Azerbaijan.

In the reported period, citrus fruits worth slightly over $7 million were exported from Turkey to Azerbaijan, which is 29 percent less compared to the same period in 2018.

During the first ten months of 2019, exports of Turkish fruits, vegetables and citrus fell by 19 percent compared to the same period in 2018 amounting to 2.2 million tons.

During this period, Turkey’s income from the export of fruits, vegetables and citrus fruits fell by 12 percent compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to $1.3 billion.

“From January through October 2019, 864,346 tons of fruits were exported from Turkey, which is 6 percent less than in the same period in 2018", said the union.

During the reporting period, Turkey's income from fruit exports decreased by 1 percent compared to last year's figure and amounted to $639 million.

According to the report, during the said period export of vegetables from Turkey decreased by 16 percent compared last year’s rate to 728,000 tons.

"In the ten months of 2019, vegetables worth $429 million were exported from Turkey, which is 2 percent more than in the same period in 2018," said the union.

It was noted that in the reporting period, Turkey exported 643,062 tons of citrus fruits, which is 35 percent less than in the same period in 2018.

"From January through October 2019, citrus fruits worth $278 million were exported from Turkey, which is 40 percent less than in the same period in 2018," the union said.
