Some 1.3 million passenger out of the total of 1.8 million tourists who visited Turkey in Jan. 2020 arrived in the country by air transport, which accounts for over 70 percent of the total number of visitors, Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism told Trend.
Another 41,982 tourists arrived in Turkey via maritime transport in Jan. 2020, which is 2.4 percent of the total volume of tourists.
The ministry said that 493,453 tourists who visited Turkey arrived via road and railway transport during the reporting month.
The ministry also added that out of the total number of passengers who visited Turkey via air transport, 152,510 tourists visited Antalya and over 1 million tourists visited Istanbul.
The overall number of tourists who visited Turkey in Jan. 2020 amounted to 1.8 million people, which is 16.1 percent more compared to Jan. 2019.
During the reporting period, over 1 million people visited Istanbul and 152,976 people visited Antalya.
