Turkey issues updated statistics on crude oil shipments via local ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 18

Nearly 14.5 million tons of crude oil were transshipped through the Turkish ports from January through July 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

During the reporting period, ships flying the Turkish flag transported 866,474 tons of crude oil through the domestic port, and ships flying the flags of other countries – over 13.5 million tons, said the ministry.

According to the ministry, in the first 7 months of this year, 27.7 million tons of crude oil were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.

In addition, during the specified period, 34.4 million tons of oil products were transshipped through the ports of Turkey, the ministry added.

Over 219.5 million tons of goods have been transshipped through the Turkish ports from January through July 2021, 17.5 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 201.9 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

More than 43.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in the first seven months of this year.

Furthermore, nearly 31.3 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in July 2021.

In the same month, around 2.2 million tons of cargo were transported to the domestic ports via ships flying the Turkish flag while via ships flying the flags of other countries – 29.1 million tons.

Meanwhile, over 6.6 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports.
