BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. Around 1.2 million tons of cargo were transported from Maltese ports to Türkiye's ports from January through March 2024, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry, vessels under the Turkish flag delivered 51.235 tons of cargo to the ports, and vessels under the flags of other countries delivered 850,461 tons.
During this period, vessels under the flag of Malta delivered 309,234 tons of cargo to Turkish ports. Approximately 47,478 tons of transit cargo were transported from January through March 2024.
Additionally, 36.6 million tons of cargo were received by the ports of Türkiye in March 2024.
The cargo flow to the inland ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.9 million tons during this period.
The cargo shipments of vessels flying the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 33.7 million tons.
Besides, 5.6 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in March 2024.
The data from the Ministry shows that Turkish ports received 102.7 million tons of cargo from January through March 2024.
Reception of cargo from Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 7.7 million tons, and from vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 95 million tons.
The statement of the ministry says that 16.8 million tons of transit cargoes were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through March 2024.
Meanwhile, the ports of Türkiye received 4,834 vessels in March 2024.
The information indicates that, during this period, the number of vessels accepted in Turkish ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,324, and under the flag of Türkiye - 1,510.
To note, Türkiye's ports received 13,718 vessels from January through March 2024.
“During this period, the number of vessels under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 9,372, and vessels under the flag of Türkiye - 4,346," the statement of the ministry reads.
