Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 1
By Maksim Tsurkov - Trend:
No negative cases have been recorded at Azerbaijan's Nov. 1 parliamentary election, says Joe Baca, former Californian congressman, an independent observer from the US.
Speaking to Trend he said the election is being held without any violations and meets all the standards.
"We haven't so far found any negative cases with regard to the election. People are voting actively, which is very pleasing," said Baca. "Some even come with their children, and that is good, because people start from an early age to understand what elections are and how important they are."
He further thanked the members of election commissions, observers, and media representatives.
"This work is very important and it motivates people to take part in the elections," said Baca, adding that he is very glad to watch the democracy in Azerbaijan.
The American observer has visited eight polling stations in Baku.
As many as 767 candidates are running for 125 seats in the parliament of Azerbaijan.
