Tajikistan and the World Bank discussed cooperation issues during the meeting of Tajik president Emomali Rahmon with the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Saroj Kumar Jha and the head of the Bank's office in Tajikistan Patricia Vivers-Carter, Asia-Plus reported on Sept. 4.

During the meeting the sides discussed the effective implementation of new cooperation strategy between the World Bank and Tajikistan for 2015-2018; with $255 million expected to be allocated for Tajikistan within this strategy.

Currently, the World Bank funds 14 projects in Tajikistan with the total budget of $232 million, which is mainly directed to the development of the national economy and social sector.

The sides also stressed that the support of Tajikistan's private economic sector, investment climate in the country and providing population with the access to social services are the main directions of Word bank's activity in Tajikistan.
