Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, commander of IRI Navy highlighting status of Caspian Sea, said on Thursday that the world's largest lake has a special status in naval-based development of Iran, IRNA reported.
Addressing the 6th Session of the Administrative Council of Noshahr Rear Admiral Sayyari said that with its rich resources and numerous capacities, including energy reserves, food provision, tourism capacities, environmental importance, trade and transportation the Caspian Sea can play a very special role in naval-based develop of the country.
'Meanwhile, being enroot the North-South corridor and providing a very economic path between its littoral states and the Persian Gulf and beyond, the Caspian Sea can play an effective role on the Caucasus, Central Asian, and Iranian economies', he reiterated.
