Georgia will become the center of the Caucasus in terms of the regional economy, Michael Phalon, member of the House of Commons of Great Britain said at a workshop held for members of the Georgian Parliament.
According to him, they welcome Georgians' attempts and the efforts that have been made in terms of liberalizing the economy. "We support Georgia's views in this direction. You will be the center of the Caucasus in terms of regional economy," Phalon said.
The Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Parliament Zurab Melkishvili in turn, paid attention to the reforms, which are underway in Georgia. He said they are focused on greater transparency and the need to further improve the supervisory role of the Parliament.
The subject area of the workshop was the Parliament's role, specifically corresponding committee, implementation of financial supervision in Georgia and the UK; program budgeting, audit of efficiency, the relations between Parliament and the audit body, the British experience and recommendations to the Parliament and the Chamber of Control of Georgia. Guests at the workshop shared their experiences in terms of financial supervision and auditing.
The workshop was also attended by representatives of the Finance Ministry, the Chamber of Control and the non-governmental sector.
