Kyrgyzstan will continue to strengthen its ties with Russia regardless the outcomes of the presidential elections, which will take place in Russia on March 4, Kyrgyzstan's President Almazbek Atambayev said in interview with Voice of Russia.
"We have no other choice but to strengthen ties, because Kyrgyzstan and Russia are historically linked. Regardless whoever will lead Russia, our countries will only strengthen the relationship," Atambayev said.
The presidential elections will take place in Russia on March 4, 2012. The registered presidential candidates are four-party candidates - the leader of the "United Russia" and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the Chairman of the Communist Party Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of "Fair Russia" Sergei Mironov and self-promoted businessman Mikhail Prokhorov.
