Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili signed a decree today scheduling the local elections for May 30, the Presidential Press Service reported.
"In accordance with Article 1043 of the Georgian Constitution and Articles 12 of the Electoral Code, the local elections are scheduled for May 30," the decree said.
Based on the law, the president had until March 31 to set the date for the elections.
