Azerbaijan, Baku, May 12 / Trend, A. Taghiyeva /
Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party will gain majority votes in the parliamentary elections and again dominate the government despite all attempts by the opposition parties to win the elections, MP from the Justice and Development Party Veysi Kaynak believes.
"AKP will gain on average of 90 percent of the votes and remain the only ruling party in Turkey," Kaynak told Trend over the telephone from Ankara.
He said the AKP deserves popular recognition and respect. With its domestic and foreign policy it has demonstrated to the world community, and especially the Turkish people, the heights that Turkey has reached.
The next Turkish parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 12. Erdogan's party has been in power in Turkey since November 2002. It gained about 47 percent of the votes in the last June 2007 parliamentary elections and formed a one-party government.
With regard to other national parties, Kaynak said the Nationalist Movement Party will be the only opposition party in parliament, and that with only a small number of votes.
He said the Republican People's Party would not be able to overcome the barrier required for representation in parliament.
"All the other parties realize that they cannot leave the ruling party behind," he added.

Last week, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that according to the survey conducted among the population, the ruling Justice and Development Party is the leader on the number of supporters and it will gain 45-50 percent of votes in elections. The Republican People's Party can hope for 25 percent of votes. Regarding the Nationalist Movement Party, it has no chance of winning. It is out of the game.
