The trial of the criminal case of Jalilabad residents Ibrahim Sadikhov, Azer Nazarov and Fariz Bayramov accused of high treason and terrorism has finished at the Baku Heinous Crimes Court today.

They were recruited by Sepah (Revolutionary Guards) and tried to blow up the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan.

The verdict was read at a closed door trial presided by Judge Enver Seyidov. According to the judgement, Nazarov was imprisoned for 12 years, while Sadikhov and Bayramov have been given 11 years.

These individuals are charged under Art. 274 (high treason), 29,214.2.1, 29,214.2.3 (attempt to commit a terrorist act by a group of people in agreement) and 228 (illegal acquisition, carrying, transfer of arms) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.

Sadikhov, Nazarov and Bayramov were detained as a result of special investigative operations undertaken in April last year by employees of the National Security Ministry.

The terrorist attack was prevented as a result of operational measures taken in anticipation of the Eurovision-2012 song contest in Baku.
