Sales in Baku trading network up

Sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products in the trading network of Baku city from January through August 2021 increased, Trend reports citing the Baku Statistical Department.

According to the department, this indicator exceeded 14.6 billion manat ($8.6 billion), up by 1.13 billion manat ($660 million) or 3.4 percent compared to the first eight months of 2020.

From January through August this year, trade turnover in the city in volume terms rose by 6.6 percent and totaled over 7.4 billion manat ($4.3 million) on annual basis. In value terms, this figure grew by 815 million manat ($479.4 million) or 11 percent.

At the same time, sales of non-food products increased by 0.4 percent over the year and amounted to over 7.1 billion manat ($4.1 billion), said the department.

Some 37.1 percent of the sold products fell on enterprises with the status of a legal entity, 41.7 percent - trade objects owned by individuals, and 21.2 percent - on the capital markets.

In 2020, trade turnover in Baku increased by 0.5 percent compared to 2019 and amounted to 23 billion manat ($13.5 billion).

Sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products in the capital increased by 6.4 percent compared to 2019 and amounted to more than 11.7 billion manat ($6.88 billion). Sales of non-food products decreased by 4.6 percent and amounted to 11.2 billion manat ($6.58 billion).

Some 29.4 percent of the sold products fell on enterprises with the status of a legal entity, 54.2 percent - trade objects owned by individuals, 16.4 percent - on the capital markets.
