BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9. Payments by bank cards only within the country increased by 2.1 times, and in the e-commerce sector - by 2.5 times, Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the bank, there are more than 13.6 million bank cards in Azerbaijan as of the beginning of 2023. Out of the total number, 72.1 percent fell on contactless cards.
The growth of the number of banking cards was 18.7 percent in 2022, while that of contactless cards - 31.4 percent.
Payments by bank cards only within the country increased by 2.1 times, and in the e-commerce sector - by 2.5 times.
In addition, transactions worth 2 billion manat ($1.18 billion) were carried out in Azerbaijan in 2022 with cards of foreign banks.
