BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12. The total value of products manufactured by industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs decreased from January through April 2023 in Azerbaijan, Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, this figure amounted to 24.3 billion manat ($14.29 billion), down by 2.4 percent on annual basis.
In the first four months of this year, production in the oil and gas sector decreased by 3.3 percent, while in the non-oil sector increased by 6.1 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
At the same time, 71.1 percent of industrial output accounted for the mining sector, 23.6 percent - for the manufacturing industry, 4.6 percent - for the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.7 percent - for the water supply, waste treatment and recycling sectors.
Commercial oil production from January through April 2023 in Azerbaijan declined by eight percent, while commercial gas production grew by 1.9 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
In the reporting period, the manufacturing of computer, electronic and optical products in the processing industry grew by 2.6 times, wood processing and production - by 90.6 percent, production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers – by 69.2 percent.
Meanwhile, manufacturing of printing products rose by 44.2 percent, textile products - by 40.5 percent, production of paper and cardboard - by 40.2 percent, machinery and equipment - by 23.5 percent, building materials - by 20.5 percent, and beverages - by 18.1 percent.
At the same time, the manufacturing of petroleum products increased by 18.1 percent, food, rubber and plastic products - by 12.2 percent, tobacco products - by 9.8 percent, furniture - by seven percent, leather and leather products, footwear - by 3.5 percent, electrical equipment - by 1.5 percent, and chemical products - by 0.9 percent.
According to the committee, from January through April 2023, manufacturing of pharmaceuticals decreased by 4.4 percent, finished metal products - by 6.2 percent, clothing - by 23.2 percent, other vehicles (apart from cars, trailers and semi-trailers) - by 27.3 percent, metallurgical industry products - by 41.4 percent, work on installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 43.3 percent.
Moreover, in the first four months of this year, the volume of production in the sector of generation, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam grew by 5.9 percent, while in the sector of water supply, waste treatment and recycling increased by 19.9 percent year-on-year.
In 2022, industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan manufactured products worth 86 billion manat ($58 billion), which was 1.1 percent less than in 2021.
