Iran reveals trade turnover with African countries

Iran's trade turnover with 27 African countries amounted to about 960,000 tons worth $180 million during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2020), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

The spokesman noted that these countries are Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Djibouti, Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Libya, Morocco, Mali, Macao, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sudan, Senegal, Somalia, Togo, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa Republic, Zambia, Ethiopia, Tunisia, and Rwanda.

Latifi emphasized that Iran exported 951,000 tons of goods worth $160 million to African countries over the reporting period.

“Iran exported $52.8 million worth of goods to Ghana and $22 million worth to Cameroon and $21.2 million worth to Kenya,” he said.

The official also added that the exported goods were mainly dairy products, various types of dates, gypsum, cement, construction materials, various metal products, medical supplies, various flowers for perfumery, and so on.

Furthermore, Iran imported 8,300 tons of goods worth $20.3 million from African countries in seven months, according to Latifi.

The spokesman stressed Iran imported $5.75 million worth of goods from Zimbabwe, $5.55 million worth from Ghana, and $3 million worth from South Africa.

“The imported goods were mainly seeds, vegetable oils, detergents and chlorine, spare parts for industrial machinery, tobacco and other goods,” he said.
