Iran boosts its exports via Bilasuvar customs checkpoint

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 12

The export of goods through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint of Ardabil Province (northwestern Iran) increased by 30 percent during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Governor of Bilasuvar County, Hassan Ghobadi told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to him, Iran exported 132,000 tons of goods worth $136 million through the Bilasuvar customs checkpoint to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia over the reporting period.

The governor added that the exported goods were potatoes, glass, ceramics, rubber and metal products.

“In addition, 5,170 tons of goods worth $6.5 million were imported through Bilasuvar customs checkpoint within 9 months. The imports decreased by 25 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

As reported, Iran exported 85.2 million tons of goods worth $25 billion in the first 9 months of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, Iran imported 25 million tons of goods worth $26.8 billion over the reporting period.

During nine months, Iran imported 781,000 tons of goods worth $396 million to Azerbaijan. At the same time, Iran imported 22,400 tons of goods worth $18 million from Azerbaijan in this period.
