Chairman of state-owned enterprises in the Caspian Sea region, Toyli Komekov, was reprimanded "for unsatisfactory performance of official duties."

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said that if officers don't correct their shortcomings quickly, they will be fired.

Komekov was appointed to the position a year ago. He headed the Fish Industry's State Committee in 2006.

The necessity of adopting a new agreement on the legal status of the reservoir appeared after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The five Caspian states have agreed that a convention may be adopted only with a consensus. The legal regime established by the Soviet-Iranian treaties continues to operate until now.
