BTC transports 260M tons of Azerbaijani oil

Around 24.33 million metric tons of oil were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline in January-October 2014 compared to 24.94 million metric tons in the same period of 2013, SOCAR said Nov. 13.

BTC transported some 29.7 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil in 2013 compared to 29.67 million metric tons in 2012.

Some 259.47 million metric tons of oil were transported through the pipeline during the whole period of its operation.

Some 24.59 million metric tons of oil were supplied to the world markets from the Ceyhan Turkish port in January-October compared to around 24.36 million metric tons in January-October 2013.

Around 29.2 million metric tons of oil were supplied to the world markets from the Turkish port of Ceyhan in 2013 compared to 29.3 million metric tons in 2012.

As of November 1, 2014, around 257.74 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil were supplied to the world markets from Ceyhan during the whole period of its operation.

The total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers including a 443- kilometer long section running through Azerbaijan, a 249- kilometer long section in Georgia and a 1,076 kilometer long section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
