French Total and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR are now implementing an early production scheme as part of the development of Azerbaijan’s Absheron field, a source in the country’s oil and gas sector told Trend.
The source said EPS involves a tie-back to a platform near existing SOCAR infrastructures.
The newly drilled first well at Absheron field will be tied into the existing SOCAR-operated Oil Rocks facilities, 35 kilometers north of the Absheron field, noted the source.
“Total will build the subsea installations and SOCAR will build the platform where the gas and condensate will be gathered before being moved to its own Oil Rocks facilities,” said the source.
SOCAR and Total signed a framework agreement in 2016 on the main contractual and commercial principles regulating the first phase of development of the Absheron field.
