Number of transactions through clearing system for small payments in Azerbaijan up

Around 80,000 payment transactions were carried out in Azerbaijan under the international financial reporting system (IFRS) from January through November 2020, Trend reports with reference to the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Reportedly, the value of operations carried out under IFRS amounted to 15.1 billion manat ($8.88 billion), which is 15.5 percent less compared to the same period of 2019.

Over 5.2 million transactions worth 2.4 billion manat ($1.4 billion)were carried out through the settlement clearing system for small payments, which reflects an increase in annual circulation of 4.8 percent,” said the report.

Banks' receipts through high-speed money transfer systems at the beginning of December 2020 amounted to 142.5 million manat ($83.8 million), a decline of 16.7 percent on an annualized basis.

On non-bank money transfers, 73,300 transactions worth 68.3 million manat ($40.1 million) were carried out, a decrease of 16 percent over the year.

By December 1, 2020, the turnover on debit and credit cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan amounted to 2.47 billion manat ($1.45 billion), an increase of 17.5 percent year on year.
