BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. The point-to-point inflation rate in Iran grew by 35.8 percent in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2024), compared with the same month last year, Trend reports.
Data from Iran’s Statistical Center shows that families in Iran spent an average of 35.8 percent more on a number of products and services in the 10th month of the current Iranian year.
Point-to-point inflation is the percentage change in the number in the price index compared to the same period last year.
In the 9th month, the price index was 225.7 in Iran.
Point-to-point inflation in the 11th month was 31.7 percent in prices of food, soft drinks, and tobacco products in Iran, while in the non-food and services sector it was 37.9 percent.
Point-to-point inflation in the 11th month was 36.2 percent in Iran’s cities and 33.6 percent in villages.
According to the report, the monthly inflation in the country for the 11th month fell by 1.2 percent compared to the 10th month (December 22, 2023 through January 20, 2024) and reached 1.4 percent.
The monthly inflation rate refers to the percentage change in the price index number compared to the previous month.
In the 11th month, monthly inflation was 1.5 percent in cities and 0.9 percent in villages.
At the end of the 11th month, the annual inflation rate in the country (February 20, 2023 through February 19, 2024) dropped by 1.1 percent compared to the previous period (February 20, 2022 through February 19, 2023) and amounted to 42.5 percent.
The annual inflation rate is the average percentage change in price index numbers over the past year. At the end of the 11th month, annual inflation was 42.3 percent in Iranian cities and 43.1 percent in villages.
