Azerbaijan's imports of smartphones from EU increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. EU countries exported 52,450 smartphones (growth by 1.8 times) worth 40.7 million euro to Azerbaijan from January through June 2023, Trend reports.

According to the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), this is a two-fold increase in value terms, on annual basis.

The top three exporters of smartphones from January through June this year were Czech Republic with 50,070 smartphones (up by 1.8 times) worth 40.5 million euro (growth by 2.1 times), Slovakia with 37.09 million euro and Italy with 16.1 million euro (both growth by 2.3 times).

According to Eurostat, in 2022, the EU countries exported 75,020 smartphones worth 53.9 million euro.

Overall volume of smartphones import by Azerbaijan from January through June 2023 amounted to 548,530, which is 4.9 times more than in the same period in 2022.

Meanwhile, according to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, import value of smartphones amounted to $142.8 million (an increase of 6.1 times). The main supplier of smartphones was China - 381,940 units (an increase of 5.7 times) worth $98.18 million (an increase of 7.5 times).

The list of the smartphones' main suppliers also included Vietnam - 138,130 units ($34.8 million) and India - 28,030 units ($9.5 million).
