New railway line put into operation in Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port

A new 800-meter-long railway line has been put into operation in the Shahid Rajaee port in Iran's Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), said Mansour Khorramshokuh, Deputy Director of the Ports and Maritime Department of Hormozgan Province, Trend reports citing the department’s website.

According to him, the private sector has spent 65 billion rials (about $1.55 million) for the construction of this railway line.

The deputy director added that the first cargo entered the Shahid Rajaee port through this railway line yesterday on January 12.

“The focus is on reducing time and transportation costs in cargo transportation through railways. Therefore, certain plans are researched related to the construction of railway lines in the port with the participation of the private sector,” he said.

As reported, there is 60 km of railway lines in the Shahid Rajaee port. These railway lines connect to 12 special areas of the port.
