Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway will significantly reduce the cost of transporting goods and services between the countries of Central and South Asia, deputy editor-in-chief of the Egyptian newspaper Al-Joumhouria, Al-Sayyid Hani Youssef Al-Sayyid said, Trend reports citing Dunyo news agency.

The deputy editor-in-chief shared his comments on the results of the first trilateral meeting between Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan held in Tashkent on the construction of Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway trans-Afghan railway line.

He said that the construction of a railway linking the countries of Central and South Asia will be a turning point in the establishment of trade and economic cooperation in this vast region.

“This project for Afghanistan will undoubtedly become the project of the century, since it will not only bring significant financial resources to the country's budget, but also increase its strategic importance and, most importantly, connect the regions, allowing reducing the cost of internal movement of goods and labor,” deputy editor-in-chief stressed.

He also emphasized that it is this railway that can become a key factor in the success of inter-Afghan negotiations and the unification of various nationalities and ethnic groups of the country.

It was also noted that the organization of the first high-level trilateral meeting in Tashkent once again confirms the desire of the leadership of Uzbekistan to establish peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as increase its authority in the international arena.
