Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran seeks tax exemption for Chabahar port

The Ports and Maritime Organization Iran's in Sistan and Baluchestan Province has called for the necessity of tax exemption for Chabahar port, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

The managing director of Ports and Maritime Organization in Sistan and Baluchestan Province Behrouz Aghaee pointed out that there's a necessity for tax exemption.

He explained that tax exemptions are needed to improve development, increase possibility of investments, encourage business activities by considering the costs of cargo transport and equipment supply.

The official also pointed out that port structures and supply of equipment for load and unload of cargo, provision of incentive packages and diverse exemptions on port taxes, costs for cargo, container and ships has been approved and announced.

He said the necessary actions would help in reducing export, transit and import costs via Chabahar port and encourage shipping lines to work in this port.

"It is clear that capacity and port infrastructures, as well as providing discount for costs and tariffs are necessary to encourage for commercial activity in the port," he said.

Aghaee also said that tax exemption would increase competition between domestic and regional ports.
