BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3. The value of IT services exported by Kazakhstan amounted to 772.5 billion Kazakh tenge ($1.76 billion) in 2022, which is a staggering 40.3 percent increase compared to 2021, Trend reports, citing the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan.

The share of services provided in the rural areas amounts to 2.6 billion Kazakh tenge (5.95 million).
In regional terms, Almaty provided the largest share of services worth 380.5 billion Kazakh tenge ($871.81 million), and Astana became the second-largest provider of services around 321.5 billion Kazakh tenge ($736.62 million). Meanwhile, the Karaganda region was a distant third with 17.1 billion Kazakh tenge ($39.17 million).

Enterprises provided services worth 737.8 billion Kazakh tenge ($1.69 billion). The cumulative value of services provided by small enterprises reached 561.7 billion Kazakh tenge ($1.28 billion), medium enterprises offered services equivalent to 50.1 billion Kazakh tenge ($114.79 million), while large enterprises sold services around 125.8 billion Kazakh tenge ($291.74 million) mark.

Software development was the most in-demand service, with the share of this category reaching 373.7 billion Kazakh tenge ($866.66 million), or 48.3 percent. Providing information-communication services for the government sector generated around 58.2 billion Kazakh tenge ($134.97 million), while the provision of cybersecurity brought 8.3 billion Kazakh tenge ($19.24 million).

The Kazakh government demonstrates significant interest in developing IT and innovative product imports. Recently, the government revealed that information-communication technologies production exports are projected to reach 147 billion Kazakh tenge ($327.23 million) in 2024. Another dramatic increase is expected to be recorded in 2025, with exports of this category of goods expected to reach 210 billion Kazakh tenge ($467.47 million).
