BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 21. Kazakhstan intends to increase imports of agricultural products from the Khatlon region of Tajikistan, Trend reports via Tajik Media.

This was discussed during a meeting between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan, Valikhan Turekhanov, and the Chairman of the Khatlon Region, Davlatali Said on January 19, 2023.

Kazakh entrepreneurs are ready to make an advance payment of $15 million to increase imports of onions, carrots, and cabbage from the Khatlon region to Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, the Kazakh side expressed interest in the supply of Tajik lemons to Kazakhstan. The parties noted that Tajik's export of agricultural products to Kazakhstan can increase up to $45-50 million.

According to the source, the trade turnover between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $1.2 billion in 2021, and this year this figure could reach $1.5 billion.

Earlier, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan reported that exports from Tajikistan to Kazakhstan exceeded $388 million from January through September 2022, which is an increase of 55.5 percent over the same period in 2021.
