The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Program to Promote Improved Governance in Turkmenistan, in partnership with the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UITI), held an online seminar designed to support the development of the Ashgabat Stock Exchange and attract investment to the country's economy, Trend reports citing Business Turkmenistan.
In his opening remarks, US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew Stephen Klimow noted that he believes that a freely functioning stock exchange can guarantee the prosperity of a nation.
"In this regard, I am pleased to help open this seminar today. I hope that our cooperation in this area will open up opportunities to promote the economic prosperity of Turkmenistan and attract foreign as well as domestic investors," he said.
It is noted that the event was the first in a series of seminars to discuss the benefits and characteristics of healthy financial markets, the conclusions and recommendations of comparative legal analysis, and, ultimately, improve the legal framework in order to increase foreign investment in the national economy.
It is reported that the program to promote improved governance in Turkmenistan is funded by USAID and implemented by QED Group LLC in partnership with the government of Turkmenistan.
