A number of measures have been approved in Uzbekistan to prevent a sharp rise in gas prices for the population, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
The authorities will regulate prices for natural and liquefied gas supplied to the population, including selling it to citizens below the market value.
The president of Uzbekistan signed a decree on October 25, 2021 "On measures to provide the population and sectors of the economy with natural and liquefied gas”. The main goal of the document is to ensure a stable supply of natural and liquefied gas to the population and sectors of the economy.
The excise tax rate for the sale of natural gas imported by legal entities to Uzbekistan is zero percent starting from October 1, 2021.
From January 1, 2022, liquefied gas sold by manufacturing enterprises will not be subject to excise tax, and entrepreneurs will be given the right to a deferral of VAT payment when importing natural and liquefied gas to Uzbekistan for up to 120 days.
According to the decree, natural and liquefied gas will be sold to the population at regulated tariffs. At the same time, it is assumed that the sale of gas to the population will be carried out at a price lower than its cost.
