Iran, EU to continue nuclear talks

( IRNA ) - Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani and the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana will continue their talks on ongoing standoff over Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.

Larijani and Solana held a five-hour meeting Wednesday evening during which they discussed Iran's nuclear case. The negotiations were held behind closed doors.

Speaking to reporters, the two sides assessed as "good and constructive" the outcome of their talks and stressed that they would continue their negotiations on Thursday and in the future.

Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, Deputy Head of the SNSC for International Affairs Javad Vaeedi and Deputy Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Saeedi are other members of the Iranian delegation to Ankara.

Larijani and Solana are scheduled to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul Thursday morning and attend a joint press conference later in the day.

Larijani-Solana talks are being held following a mutual phone agreement on April 20.

The two sides have had several phone talks since their last meeting in Munich in February 2007.
