Iran reveals volume of bonefish hunting in Kiashahr port

As much as 89,547 tons of various bonefish has been hunted in Kiashahr port of Iran’s Gilan province since the current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 21, 2018, said Izzatullah Ramazani, the head of the Fisheries Department of the Astane-Ashrafiya district of Gilan province.

He noted that 4,317 kilograms of beluga, 83,302 kilograms of mullet and 1,928 kilograms of other bonefish have been hunted during the reporting period, IRNA reported.

Noting that 11 fishery cooperatives are operating in the region, Ramazani said that 1,000 hunters of cooperative companies are engaged in catching bonefishes.

Ramazani added that, fishing in Iran began on October 7 and will last until April 4, 2019.

Earlier, Iran and Turkmenistan discussed joint projects in fishing industry. The sides exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the issues of aquaculture technologies, the creation of joint ventures for the production and processing of fish.

The parties stated that the expansion of contacts between Turkmen and Iranian fishermen is required for the favorable formation of business ties.
