The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) intends to continue buying gas stations in Romania, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev told Trend in Astana.

He said the company has already acquired 14 gas stations in Romania, and SOCAR has plans to buy new gas stations.

"Romania is interesting for us. [...] In particular, we have already begun acquisition and re-branding of gas stations," Abdullayev said.

In the next two months, SOCAR plans to commission the first seven gas stations under its own brand in Romania, for which work has already begun. Preparations have already begun on re-branding seven more stations.

The stations are located in the northeast of Romania near the border with Moldova.
Previously, SOCAR announced its intent to open 300 gas stations in Romania under its own brand. Today the company has gas stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine.
