Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev introduced a new akim (governor) to the most active members of Almaty oblast, according to the Kazakh presidential press-service's statement posted on its Twitter page.

Amandyk Batalov was appointed new governor of the Almaty oblast. He replaced Ansar Musakhanov at this position, according to the report.

Batalov has been Acting First Deputy Governor of Almaty oblast of Kazakhstan since April 2008. In different years, he was akim of Zhetysu district of Almaty, the first deputy chief of administration of Kalinin district of Almaty, vice-president of the "Construction industry and technology" concern. Batalov is a hydraulic engineer. He was awarded with "Kurmet" medal (2008), according to the report.
