Romania looking to conclude the intergovernmental agreement with Kazakhstan in agriculture

Romania and Kazakhstan share a close friendship and comprehensive political and diplomatic dialogue based on confidence and respect, both on the bilateral level as well as within international fora, Spokesperson and Mass-media Relations Directorate of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend.

The ministry official said that Romania values and supports the ambitious reforms and modernization processes of the Kazakh leadership, including profound political transformation and improving entrepreneurship, while the rule of law and good governance are essential for a functioning democracy and attracting foreign investment.

Aside from the institutionalized formats of bilateral dialogue, an updated legal framework sets predictable dynamics for strong business climate and cooperation in priority areas, the official said.

“Just to mention a few of the sectoral bilateral documents that entered into force in the last three years: the intergovernmental agreement on scientific and technological cooperation; the agreement of cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and the national Chamber of entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, Memoranda of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest with ATAMEKEN Nur-Sultan, respectively ATAMEKEN Almaty. In addition, we look forward to the conclusion in the near future of the intergovernmental agreement in the field of agriculture that lays the ground also for improved cooperation in the field of sectoral high-level education and digital technologies,” the official said.

Last but not least, the official said, Kazakhstan was the first Central Asian country to sign an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement that entered into force on 1st of March 2020, Romania being among the first EU members to have ratified the agreement.

Furthermore, the Government of Romania and the line institutions are currently devising the necessary measures and support programs to help the Romanian business and the companies affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Currently, at the national level, the "IMM INVEST ROMANIA" program is being implemented. There are also other functional programs supporting our exports, such as the "Export Promotion Program" and the "Internationalization Program". Furthermore, we are looking forward to the next annual 15th Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission engaging high representatives and specialists from ministries, as well as representatives of the business environment," the official said.

In the official’s words, it will be a new opportunity for business actors from both our states. Such events organized as soon as possible will represent an important step of upgrading our economic ties, as overcoming the implications of the pandemic is a work in progress.
