SOCAR Energy Ukraine, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Ukraine, has recovered the sales volume to the 2019 level, said Igor Orlov, retail trade director at SOCAR Energy Ukraine, Trend reports.
Orlov told Ukrainian News Agency that during the COVID-19 pandemic, fuel sales decreased by 30-35 percent: “Nevertheless we almost reached the volume of last year in terms of sales after the situation improved.”
He went on to add that the company’s profit went down due to the decrease in sales volumes.
“But this year the main task was to keep jobs, keep the team and ensure round-the-clock operation of all our complexes in the way our consumers are used to. Our income has decreased, but we have maintained profitability,” he said.
SOCAR’s representative office opened in Ukraine in 2008.
The company acquired about 20 Tala-Nafta filling stations in Odessa and Nikolaev regions, as well as Svitanok large oil depot in Odessa region in 2009.
The company took control of the fuelling networks ONIO (four filling stations in Kyiv and the region) and GFC (in Lviv region) in 2010-2011. SOCAR received permission from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to purchase 26 filling stations and one tank farm of the Kalina group in August 2012.
