Natural gas exports worldwide rise by almost 180 bcm over ten years

World natural gas exports have increased by almost 180 billion cubic meters (bcm) between 2010 and 2019, Trend reports with reference to estimates of Gas Exporters Countries Forum (GECF).

This figure stood at 648.60 billion cubic meters in 2010, rising to 653.95 bcm in 2011, 692.85 bcm in 2012 and 715.32 bcm in 2013, before dropping to 682.56 bcm in 2014.

The exports recovered to 711.29 bcm in 2015, continuing upward trend to 755.67 bcm in 2016, 821.73 bcm in 2017, 828.67 bcm in 2018, then dropping to 825.25 bcm in 2019.

GECF’s share in natural gas exports varied between 55 percent and 64 percent over this period.

The volume of natural gas exports by GECF countries, including observers, stood at 355.39 bcm in 2010, before nosediving to 350.31 bcm in 2011 and then recovering to 440.41 bcm in 2012.

Fluctuations in GECF exports continued in the subsequent years, standing at 456.13 bcm in 2013, dropping to 417.76 bcm in 2014, then recovering to 437.82 bcm in 2015, 463.75 bcm in 2016 and 492.14 bcm in 2017.

The volumes fall again in 2018 to 454.05 bcm and 426.87 bcm in 2019.

Over these years, GECF totals stood at 1.336 trillion cubic meters in 2010, 1.750 trillion cubic meters in 2011, 1.882 trillion cubic meters in 2012, further rising to 1.987 trillion cubic meters in 2013, 1.993 trillion cubic meters in 2014, 2.026 trillion cubic meters in 2015, 2.035 trillion cubic meters in 2016, 2.114 trillion cubic meters in 2017, 2.134 trillion cubic meters in 2018 and 2.148 trillion cubic meters in 2019.
