By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

A 10-megawatt solar panel power plant will be launched in the Yazd Province (central Iran) by the end of this month (December 21, 2020 to January 20, 2021), Spokesman for Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi said, Trend reports citing the organization.

According to Sigaroudi, this station will be the 9th solar panel power plant in Yazd Province.

The official added that thus, the power generation capacity of solar panel power plants in Iran's Yazd Province will increase to about 75 megawatt-hours.

“So, more than 122 million kilowatt-hours of electricity will be generated annually through solar panel power plants in Yazd Province and transferred to Iran's electricity network,” he said.

Sigaroudi noted that there are 8 solar panel power plants with the generation capacity of 61.5 megawatts operating in the Yazd Province, at present.

Iran's renewable energy power plants generated 5.57 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through November 20, 2020).

At present, the generation potential of alternative renewable energy power plants installed in Iran amounts about 823 megawatt hours.
