Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan agree to co-op on implementation of Kambarata HPP-1 project

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed on further development of bilateral cooperation on the joint implementation of Kambarata HPP-1 investment project in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

The agreement was reached within the framework of the state visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov to Uzbekistan on March 11-12 this year.

On March 13, a working group headed by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan and the Minister of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan met in Bishkek.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of Kambarata HPP-1investment project and the establishment of close cooperation with the Kyrgyz side in the framework of the operation of the underground gas storage (UGS) "Severny Sokh".

In addition, a joint coordinating committee has also been created, which consists of four subcommittees for the electric power industry, oil and gas and coal industries, as well as for the supply of natural gas.

Also, comprehensive programs have been developed and approved for each subcommittee.

Earlier the Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Sherzod Khodzhaev, reporting on the details of the protocol on mutual supplies of electricity signed with Kyrgyzstan, said that Uzbekistan will supply surplus electricity at the right time for Kyrgyzstan, and in return receive it back in the summer from Kyrgyz hydroelectric power plants, which will also ensure the supply of water to Uzbekistan during the growing season.
