The revenues of the state budget of Uzbekistan from January through September reached 94.4 trillion soums ($9.11 billion), and expenditures accounted for 102.1 trillion soums ($9.9 billion), Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Finance.
The budget deficit in the reporting period amounted to 7.7 trillion soums ($743 million) or 1.9 percent of GDP.
The coronavirus pandemic has led to a sharp increase in budget expenditures, which were aimed at supporting and recovering the economy, protecting public health, and improving medical infrastructure.
Social expenditures for 9M2020 accounted for about 52.5 percent of the total state budget.
Some 53.7 trillion soums ($5.18 billion) were allocated to the social sector for the reported period, which is 16.8 percent more than in the same period last year.
In addition, 13.6 trillion soums ($1.31 billion) were allocated to support the health care system, which is 1.3 times more than the corresponding period of last year.
The revenues of the state budget of Uzbekistan for 1H2020 increased by 7.5 trillion soums ($724 million) and amounted to 58.2 trillion soums ($5.62 billion).
The republican budget of Uzbekistan was revised in May of this year, and the maximum funding for ministries and departments was increased from 100.8 to 106.2 trillion soums (from $9.7 billion to $10.2 billion) at the expense of the Anti-Crisis Fund in the amount of 10 trillion soums ($965 million).
