Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development Kheirollah Khademi announced that the first part of the €300 million credit of the Chabahar-Zahedan Railway construction project will be paid in the next few weeks.

“The Chabahar-Zahedan Railway project was launched after the National Development Fund made a decision to allocate €300 million for the project," Khairallah Khademi told reporters on Tuesday, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He added that since the announcement of this credit allocation, the number of heavy machinery units has increased to 750, as well as the number of manpower work on the project.

“Despite the increase in project equipment and manpower, we need to double the workforce and increase the number of heavy machinery to 1500,” the deputy minister continued.

"Following the instructions from the central bank, the first part of the allocated credit will soon be paid by the operating bank, Maskan Bank, in the amount of $71 million in a few weeks,” he said.

Completing Chabahar-Zahedan railway project has become more necessary since inauguration of the first development phase of Shahid Beheshti Port, which is an extension to Chabahar Port, in December 2017. This tripled the port’s annual shipment capacity to 8.5 million tons.
