Foreign capital share in Georgia’s banking sector exceeds 76 percent

The foreign capital share in the authorized capital of Georgian banks amounts to 76.4 percent. As of Nov.1, in total, some 21 commercial banks have been registered in Georgia, the National Bank of Georgia said on Nov.26. Around 18 of the total number of banks are the banks with foreign capital share.

In addition, another two banks in Georgia are branches of foreign banks.

According to the National Bank, the total assets of the country's banks decreased by 0.02 billion lari ($1= 1.67 lari) or 0.2 percent in October and currently amount to 15.8 billion lari.

The own funds of Georgia's banking sector amount to 2.8 billion lari or 17.8 percent of the total assets of the country's commercial banks
