Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, October 30/ Trend, H. Hasanov /

A telephone conversation took place between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkish President Abdullah Gul, a message from the Turkmen government published on Wednesday said.

'Gul highly appreciated the initiatives put forward by the Turkmen leader aimed at solving global problems in the modern world and in particular, the insurance of energy security', the message said.

According to the message, the parties spoke for the intensification of interstate relations and implementation of new joint projects.

The parties also stated the affinity and coincidence of positions of Turkmenistan and Turkey on a number of topical issues of the international agenda that allows both countries to interact effectively in the international arena.

In addition according to the message, the Turkish president invited the head of Turkmenistan to visit the country at a convenient time. According to the parties' agreement, that time will be agreed through diplomatic channels.

Ashgabat considers it appropriate to intensify the energy dialogue within the UN and OSCE and to formulate mechanisms for multilateral consultations on political, financial, economic, technological and environmental aspects of construction and operation of multiple pipeline infrastructures.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world's natural gas reserves. The country is exporting this fuel to the markets of China, the CIS countries and Iran. The variants of laying gas pipelines from Turkmenistan to the markets of South Asia and Europe are being examined.

One of the best options for delivery of Turkmen resources to the European market is the project on construction of a 300 km long pipeline to the coast of Azerbaijan along the Caspian Sea bed. Then the Turkmen fuel may reach Turkey which borders with the European countries.
