Turkmenistan increases air transportation

In the first quarter of 2010 Turkmen airlines transported about 400,000 people, which is 18 percent more than last year.

Neutral Turkmenistan reported that last year the civil aviation transported more than 1,5 million passengers via the international and domestic flights.

The number of passengers who used Turkmen international airlines increased by almost 40 percent this year. The flow of passengers on local flights increased by 6 percent.

Since the beginning of the year, about 3,000 tons of cargo and mail were transported.

In the first quarter of this year, the country's airlines also exceeded these figures. The total profit hit 60 million manat. Currency earnings amounted to over $40 million.

About $ 670 million manat was invested to improve airport infrastructure, technical state in 2009. In the first quarter of 2010, about 163 million manat was invested or 10 times more than the same period last year.
