Iran's new parliament has been 91 percent formed after the results of second round of parliamentary elections, Mehr reported.
A total of 290 people reside in Iran's parliament, and 225 of them have been already selected in the first round of parliamentary elections which took place in March.
In the second round of elections so far 40 people have been selected, making a total of 265 candidates (91 percent) to go for Iran's new parliament.
The second round of parliamentary elections began in Iran at 08:00 local time yesterday. The voting time was extended several times by the Central Election Commission due to high amount of people willing to cast their votes.
According to the law, the parliamentary elections must last 10 hours, but if there is a need, the interior minister may extend the voting time.
As a result of yesterday's voting, 40 candidates from 32 voting districts were elected in 52 cities of Iran. A total of 4 cities remain for the votes there to be counted - Tehran, Eslamshahr Rey, Shemiranat.
Overall, 130 candidates from 33 constituencies of Iran participated in the elections. Among 130 candidates, 65 will be elected into the country's parliament. So far, 40 of them have been elected, which makes up for 61,5 percent.
According to Iranian news sources, 60-70 percent of activity was observed at the second round of elections.
Iran's Intelligence Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said yesterday that 225 electees underwent country's parliamentary accreditation.
The first meeting of the Iranian parliament is planned to be held on the seventh date of Khordad month 1391 in Islamic calendar (May 27, 2012).
