A man who tried to blow up the regional prosecutor's office of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, located in Zugdidi, had moved to the area controlled by official Tbilisi from occupied Abkhazia, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.
An explosive device was found on Friday morning in front of the regional prosecutor's office in Zugdidi, on the border with Abkhazia. According to the MOI, security at the building saw a man in the early hours leaving a bag near the prosecutor's office. He tried to flee, but was apprehended. Sappers, summoned to the place discovered a bomb in the bag which was defused.
An investigation is being carried out by the Constitutional Security Department of the Georgian Interior Ministry.
